Here at Stout Sign Co, we are incredibly proud to be part of the history of signs as advertising as the oldest St. Louis sign company still in operation. It can be argued that signage is as old as retail business itself! From the earliest mention of branded advertisements in China during the Song Dynasty to modern-day pylon signs grabbing your hungry attention while on roadtrips, one of the easiest ways to relay a message has been in a hyper-visual manner.

While Stout Sign Co isn’t as old as China’s immersive history with branding, we have been a force in the industry for over 130 years. The Stout family founded our sign company in St. Louis, MO in 1886, just as roadways and highways were beginning to rapidly expand throughout America. Did you know that Missouri has the fifth highest number of roads in the United States? So a sign company in St. Louis makes perfect sense!

As people began traveling more, Stout positioned itself as a powerful metal sign company with an attention to detail. We also use processes that implement some of the most durable and long-lasting materials in the field. From working with big names such as Pepsi-Cola and Michelin Tire to manufacturing the famous Uncle Sam signs reading “I Want You for the U.S. Army,” to stepping into the gas station and point of purchase sign field, Stout Sign Company has continued to deliver incredible signage to companies.
